The Humane Eating Project App

You want to eat humanely by sticking to foods that are humanely-raised, vegan, or vegetarian, but you don’t know where to start. Now, the Humane Eating Project is making it easy with its new application! The app, being designed for smartphones, makes it easy to pinpoint restaurants that use humane food (and places restaurants that sell the most inhumane dishes, like foie gras, shark fin soup, and veal on a Watch List). It will also link these restaurant locations with yelp reviews and comments, so you can check out whether they’re worth your time! While many farms implement humane practices with their animals, big factory farms are more concerned about their profits and disregard the comfort of their livestock. With the Humane Eating Project app, you decide which farms are getting your money by selecting restaurants that buy from these farms. The app will also include other features, including petitions (asking restaurants to stop selling dishes that place them on the Watch List or to provide more humane/vegan options) and loyalty programs.

The Humane Eating Project needs $15,000 to reach its goal and fund the creation of the app, so check out the indiegogo page.
