Summer Education Internship at Moxie Leadership Academy

Moxie Leadership Academy

When two former middle school teachers realized 1) that their students didn’t have the incredible summers they did and that 2) the promising girls they taught had fewer hands-on leadership opportunities, they decided to do something about it.

We know that most of what makes us successful goes beyond the classroom and that our education reform efforts need to reflect that knowledge. This summer, we’ll pilot our first summer program, in partnership with Firstline Schools and New Orleans College Preparatory.

The Moxie Leadership Academy offers a great opportunity for high achieving college students interested in entering the non-profit or education sector. Building off our established curriculum, Lab Leaders teach Advanced Math and Science to a group of promising 5th and 6th graders.

Who Should Apply?

Ideal candidates to Moxie Leadership are on a mission. They believe that it is unconscionable that millions of hard-working students are denied access to the best educational opportunities simply because they are low-income. Lab Leaders are teachers, coaches, mentors, and role models who go above and beyond to help our kids push through the barriers that stand between them and their future successes. If you are entrepreneurial and results-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills, we want to meet you! STEM majors/minors preferred.

The internship program will run from June 13th to July 25th, 2013, from 8:30-3:30pm each day. You’ll be working at 2300 General Taylor St., New Orleans, LA 70115. To apply, email your resume and cover letter to vdouyon@moxieleadership.org.
