Hali Ledet is a reproductive justice advocate and birthworker who earned her BSPH at Tulane. During her time in New Orleans, she has trained as a doula and interned with a number of local organizations including Sista Midwife Productions, Birthmark Doula Collective, Women With A Vision, and Touro Family Birthing Center. Her community work so far has centered around improving the holistic health and wellbeing of Black girls and women across their lifespan. Currently, she is pursuing her MPH in Maternal Child Health, also at Tulane, where she serves as the Outreach Coordinator for Students for Sexual Health Equity. Her studies focus on the sexual and reproductive health of marginalized populations including Black, Brown, LGBTQ+, and criminalized folks. In 2018, Hali received the Alvarez Spark innovation Award to explore her ideas for Birthlight, LLC. Birthlight was created to reduce local racial perinatal disparities through the provision of doula services to Black families. An aspiring midwife, Hali believes that if we change how people come into this world, we can change the world itself.
