Lalo Narea completed a dual masters program in social work and public health from Tulane University in May 2016. He used funding from the Alvarez Spark Innovation Award to create new weekly programming from January through May of 2016 that targeted the homeless population at the main branch of the New Orleans Public Library (NOPL). After the generous funding ended in May, Lalo learned to create a more sustainable model for continuing services by cultivating partnerships between Tulane University, NOPL, and the YMCA, as well as local business like Rouse's and Congregation Coffee.
