This holiday season we all have a chance to give gifts that give back. Below is a list of my personal favorites that can fulfill your needs for even the hardest member of your family while still bringing some good karma your way!
- Goods that Matter is an eco-intelligent, creative, and innovative design for good company based in New Orleans. The organization is committed to using eco-friendly products that are produced in the United States to give back to various social and environmental issues. A portion of all proceeds go to different causes that impact the New Orleans community as well as communities around the world.
- Tchoup Industries, based in New Orleans, produces high quality items by using repurposed and all-natural materials whenever possible. In addition, they also source materials as close to New Orleans are possible to help stimulate the local economy.
- United By Blue is focused on ocean and waterway conservation. For every product sold, United By Blue removes one pound of trash from oceans and waterways through company organized and hosted cleanups.
- Clothe Your Neighbor as Yourself is a nonprofit clothing company that uses 100% of the profit to provide clothing to those in need. So how does it work? When you order from them you get to decide where that money goes, based on what matters to you. Whether that is education, homelessness, vulnerable children, empowering women, you can donate to it by buying their products.
- FRANK aims to help children in New Zealand get the most out of their education by providing them with the materials they need to move forward. Inspired by the one-for-one model FRANK donates a notebook for every item purchased.
- Speak Your Silence is a nonprofit with a mission to conquer the stigma of child sexual abuse. 100% of profits made through their shop goes to funding in-person, one-on-one counseling nationwide for those affected by child sexual abuse.
- Fetch Eyewear donates all profits to the Pixie Project to improve animal welfare through rescue, veterinary care and education.
- 1Face supports nine causes; cancer, hunger, breast cancer, clean water, disaster relief, environment, AIDS, education, and animal rights. Each watch is designed to support a different cause but what is awesome is that each cause has a specific metric that tells you exactly what your purchase does.
- Mulxiply works with organizations who provide sustainable, fair trade, creative work to women in developing nations. Their mission is to stabilize economies in the developing world through creating dignified jobs by investing in indigenous, artisanal businesses in Nepal.
- Serengetee aims to help change lives around the globe by empowering causes and communities while bolstering local economies. The patterns they use for their products are designed by talented fabric makers around the globe so when you purchase a product, you are helping support them!
Happy shopping!
