Communication and Marketing Fellow, Lani Nguyen, created a photo diary of the Design Thinking Crash Course for Liberty’s Kitchen on October 5, 2017. The crash course was an important part of a launch workshop to expose the organization to design thinking to recruit the youth in the design krewe within a supportive environment.
Since the workshop, the Design Krewe – which consists of Andryan LaGarde, Kiall Wilson, DJ Bolling, Phillip Johnson, Ahmaad Lott, Nadja Sampson, and Liberty Rose – joined the Liberty’s Kitchen / Top Box food access project, applying skills developed during training to explore healthy food options for Central City. The Design Krewe met community members, visited their homes, and explored neighborhood shopping sites to inform their human-centered design process.
They continue to develop a few prepared food concepts into viable products that fit the LK-TB supply chain and production systems. The Design Krewe meets roughly weekly, as schedules allow, and the design process demands.
