Next week, the student-run Green Wave Community Market is parading back into uptown community members’ lives, Mardi Gras stye.
The market brings vendors together at Hillel each week to sell sustainable, locally sourced produced and goods. Offerings include art, baked goods, produce, and plants.
Last October, New Wave interviewed student market founder Claire Beauchamp. According to Claire, “the best way to get people more interested in being more community based and buying things locally…. was just to put it right in front of them.” One only needs to look at the rising popularity with both students and local community members to see the truth in this statement. Attendance has more than doubled in just one year.
This semester’s first (Mardi Gras themed) Green Wave Market will happen on February 1, 2015 from 12 PM – 3 PM. Check out Facebook for more information.
