Building on the successful model of the Clinton Global Initiative, which brings together world leaders to take action on global challenges, President Clinton launched the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) in 2007 to engage the next generation of leaders on college campuses around the world.
Each year, CGI U hosts a meeting where students, youth organizations, topic experts, and celebrities come together to discuss and develop innovative solutions to pressing global challenges. CGI U 2014 will take place at Arizona State University in metropolitan Phoenix from March 21-23, 2014. The meeting will bring together nearly 1,200 attendees to make a difference in CGI U’s five focus areas: Education, Environment and Climate Change, Peace and Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation, and Public Health.
The early decision and travel assistance deadline for CGI U 2014 is this Friday, November 22. Students who wish to be considered for travel assistance must apply by this deadline.
To date, more than 50 colleges and universities have joined the CGI University Network, pledging to support, mentor, and provide over $500,000 total in funding to student innovators and entrepreneurs on their respective campuses.
The Resolution Project will host a Social Venture Challenge at CGI U 2014, providing a total of $100,000 in seed funding for some of the most promising student commitments. Finalists will present their commitments to a panel of judges at CGI U, and winners will be announced at the conclusion of the meeting.
Students: we hope you’ll join us in Phoenix and take advantage of these great funding opportunities!
