Humanure Power (HP) fights alongside communities to end outdoor defecation as a key step in an ongoing struggle for health equity and social and economic justice. HP builds community toilets to counter India’s sanitation crisis. They maintain their facilities by harnessing the methane gas produced by human waste to generate electricity and charge portable batteries. Community members rent these batteries to power small household electronics. By building sustainable sanitation infrastructure in India, HP cultivates healthier communities and new markets for the 21st century.
HP is now seeking to hire a new full time staff member. This team member would be hired in a co-director capacity and would assist with administrative and fundraising work here in the US. Tasks would include:
- Helping file for 501c3 status
- Applying for three major grants in the next two months
- Getting a crowd funding campaign off the ground
- Defining HP core values
Those are just a few of the major tasks that the position would be working on. Any new team member will have a tremendous opportunity to help shape HP’s work from a very early stage and will help chart the path we are taking. This is a paid position, and salary terms would be discussed after submission of the application.
