Dowser, an online venture into solutions journalism, is now seeking new writers and contributors for its site.
Dowser is a site for solutions journalism. We seek blog entries from writers who have an accessible voice and solid reporting skills, a knack for uncovering new ideas and models in social innovation, and — for analysis and opinion pieces — the ability to state a position clearly and defend it with evidence. We prioritize accuracy and attention to details. In addition to fresh reporting, we’re looking for bloggers who can unearth interesting things they find — videos, photos, articles, items, books, etc. — that describe or explain solutions. We do NOT run advocacy or PR pieces or ‘good news’ fluff.
If interested in writing a piece, send an email with the subject line QUERY to esha@dowser.org. A query should summarize in 2 paragraphs the maximum the gist of the story, why we should cover it now, and why you’re the writer to do it. If you are submitting your first query to us, please include 2 sentences about your prior writing experience and 2 links to other posts or stories you’ve done. Also please provide us with links that makes it easier for us to vet the story idea.
To become a steady writer, send an email to info@dowser.org with a writing sample. Dowser pays $25 for blog entries and $40 for longer pieces. (For some assigned pieces with steady writers, they pay more.)
