GW Unveils New Social Innovation Lab: GWupstart

After Georgetown University announced a record $100 million donation this morning, The George Washington University followed in its footsteps, unveiling the launch of a three-year, $350,000 program for students with socially conscious ideas and businesses. Dubbed GWupstart, the social innovation lab will provide young, up-and-coming entrepreneurs with the resources necessary to grow their concepts into full-fledged ventures that could potentially change the world as we know it today.

The social entrepreneurship program is a part of the university’s commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative and is housed under the Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service, according to GW Today. It will serve as a support system for innovators with a slew of mentorship opportunities, co-curricular programs, and events specifically geared toward offering new opportunities for the movers and shakers of tomorrow.
